Etude biostratigraphique, paléoécologique et paléobiogéographique des séries éocènes (Yprésien-Lutétien basal) de Tunisie centrale. Biostratigraphy, palaeocology and palaeobiogeography of Eocene series in central Tunisia) Biostratigraphic study of Eocene series (uppermost Paleocene, Ypresian-Early Lutetian)in central Tunisia allows to establish a nearly continuous zonation. The coexistence of planktic and benthic Foraminifera (Nummulitidae)in the Serj section, makes it possible to establish a parallelism between their vertical distribution. The different Ypresian micropalaeontological assemblages analysed in detail for the first time permit firstly to confirm the NW-NE orientation of the limit between two distinct areas - a Southern Nummulites platform and a deeper Northern Globigerina - secondly to note that most Nummulites and Operculina species are of wide geographic distribution, suggesting an expension of the platform domain towards the east in Libya and in Egypt within the southern tethyan margin.
