Catalogue reference : Contribution à l'étude des phosphates de Jallabia (bassin de Gafsa, Tunisie). Contribution to the study of Jallabia phosphate (Gafsa Basin)Tunisia The sedimentologic study of the phosphatic series of Jellabia has been undertaken with a double aim: - determine the context and conditions of the genesis of phosphate rocks - understand better the lithological characteristics of the workable levels the results obtained show a diversity of the phosphatic particles, including on one hand some elements that are not directly identifiable, grouping angular particles, aggregates, and these particles, which change whith the phosphated level considered, has been related to the sedimentologic and geochimical parameters. The mode of formation is the following: - an in situ genesis of the phosphate - a preferential phosphatization inside of granular micro-environments, by an epigenesis of the nannoconstituants of the faecal pellets, the latter being linked to the activity of mud eating and burrowing organisms, whose abundance has been shown in the sedimentary series of Jellabia.
