Publication Date: 1989
Author : Graveson D.H.
Catalogue type : Livre
Catalogue reference : Djefara arch-Tunisia. Sulfure prospection - Final report Recherche du soufre dans la Djeffara (Tunisie) The Jeffara Arch, a flexure of lower Jurassic and upper Triassic evaporites in southern Tunisia, was prospected for sulfur. Cuttings from oil and gaz exploration wells in addition to seismic lines were studied. In some areas there were limestones which, when freshly broken, emitted a faint hydrocarbon odor. Sulphur and biocalcite were not observed in the field or in cuttings. Despite similarities to the west texas model, i.e. quiescent basin with thick evaporites underlain by an oil horizon, the Djeffara Arch yielded ro encouragement for a stratabound sulphur deposit from this reconnaissance study. bibliogr., annexe substance utile ; soufre substance ; log ; lithologie ; prospection ; évaporite substance ; trias ; jurassique ; Tunisie ; Tunisie Nord Orientale ; Djeffara ; El Borma Graveson D.H.
