title of the reference :  Palynologic studies of the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary interval at El Kef outcrop, northwestern Tunisia
Publication Date: 1990
Author : Meon Henriette
Catalogue type : Livre
Catalogue reference : T.65 (NLD) Rev. Palaeobot. Palynol. T.65 Palynologic studies of the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary interval at El Kef outcrop, northwestern Tunisia paleogeographic implications The well-dated outcrop of El Kef, NW Tunisia, shows continuous sedimentation from Campanian to Paleocene. Palynological study of this outcrop makes it possible to follow palynofloral variations through this interval and across the Cretaceous/Tertiary boundary. In the Late Cretaceous Palmae Province covered parts of Africa and South America, and the Normapolles Province included eastern North America and Europe. The El Kef palynoflora shows that, in late Maastrichtian time, Northern Africa was at the boundary between the African-South American and European provinces. During the transition to the Tertiary, palynofloral variety decreased and only European taxa remained. The change appears to have been gradual bibliogr.
