title of the reference :  Estimating the relative percentages of mineral salts in saline deposits of southern Tunisia using remotely sensed data.
Publication Date: 1982
Author : Munday T.J.
Catalogue type : Livre
Catalogue reference : Vol.III (ARG) Proc. Int. Symp. Remote Sensing Environ Vol.III Estimating the relative percentages of mineral salts in saline deposits of southern Tunisia using remotely sensed data. Estimation des pourcentages relatifs des sels minéraux dans les dépôts salins de Tunisie du Sud par l'utilisation de données de la télédétection. Extensive saline deposits are found in Tunisia. In tne south of the country, they are found covering sebkhas and chotts (forms similar to the playas of the Western U.S.A.). Their exact nature and extent remains unknown. Multispectral remote sensing techniques, were evaluated as a means for providing such information. Mineralogy, (determined by quantitative X-ray diffraction and chemical ananalysis), and soil moisture were correlated with reflectance, using bivariate and multivariate regression techniques. Gross mineralogical and moisture variations could be determined from in-situ and Landsat MSS data for a variety of surface types found on the Chott Djerid. référ. bibliogr. télédetection ; sel ; télédetection multispectrale ; pouvoir reflecteur ; regression statistique ; sol ; humidité sol ; ERTS LANDSAT ; méthode satéllite ; Tunisie ; Tunisie Sud Munday T.J.
