title of the reference :  Seismic expression of Permian reef development in the Matmata Area -Jorf Permit, Tunisia.
Publication Date: 1998
Author : Rigo Fabrizio
Catalogue type : Livre
Catalogue reference : Seismic expression of Permian reef development in the Matmata Area -Jorf Permit, Tunisia. In spite of the fact that the presence of U.Permien reefs was known from a small outcrop near the Jeffara fault system, nobody has suspected the presence of huge reef development at several levels in the 6,000 plus meters of sediments accumulated or vertically grown in Tunisian Permian Basin. Three thounsands kilometers of seismic lines, acquired in the past 20 years by several companies in the area, were recently reinterpretated with or without reprocessing and have revealed extensive development of huge level reef anomalies. In this brief article the author shows four interpreted seismic lines in two areas of the basin and discusses some subtle seismic expressions interpreted as different types of reefs in the basin. A concise description of the stratigraphy and major tectonic features, together with reservoir, source rocks and migration parametres is also presented to give lectures an idea of the potential Bassin to contain large reserves of hydrocarbons.
