Important events

Creation : The National Office of Mines (NOM) was established in 1962 as a public establishment of an industrial and commercial nature (EPIC). Law n°62-17 dated on May 24th, 1962.

Integration of a geological Service : The geological service was integrated in the NOM in 1981.
Decree No. 81-60 of January 14, 1981

Reclassification : In 1996, the NOM was classified as a public establishment of a none-administrative nature (EPIC).Law 96-74 dated on July 29th, 1996

  1. Providing the country with a basic infrastructure that is necessary to the knowledge of national soil and subsoil.
  2. Assuring information stocking and management relative to earth science and put them for operators’ use.
  3. Looking after the national geological patrimony.
  4. Making inventory of, exploring and putting the potentialities in mineral raw materials in an obvious.
  5. Promoting the country’s mineral potential by implementing a promotion policy meant to attract the investors.
  6. Assisting and helping the operators deal with their different activities (research, valorization, etc.) throughout boosting the presentation operations.
