    Important events

    Creation : The National Office of Mines (NOM) was established in 1962 as a public establishment of an industrial and commercial nature (EPIC). Law n°62-17 dated on May 24th, 1962.

    Integration of a geological Service : The geological service was integrated in the NOM in 1981.
    Decree No. 81-60 of January 14, 1981

    Reclassification : In 1996, the NOM was classified as a public establishment of a none-administrative nature (EPIC).Law 96-74 dated on July 29th, 1996

    Missions

    • 1- Providing the country with a basic infrastructure that is necessary to the knowledge of national soil and subsoil.
    • 2- Assuring information stocking and management relative to earth science and put them for operators’ use.
    • 3- Looking after the national geological patrimony.
    • 4- Making inventory of, exploring and putting the potentialities in mineral raw materials in an obvious.
    • Promoting the country’s mineral potential by implementing a promotion policy meant to attract the investors.
    • 6- Assisting and helping the operators deal with their different activities (research, valorization, etc.) throughout boosting the presentation operations.
