title of the reference :  Summary introduction to geology of Sicily
Publication Date: 1960
Author : Marchetti M.P.
Catalogue type : Livre
Catalogue reference : Summary introduction to geology of Sicily The gelogy of Sicily is so complex that, in spite of the many years of aggressive exploration work carried out by the oil companies, only limited areas are well known while complete understanding of many others is still not entirely reached: we must add, morcover, that very little has been published and that most of the basic information is kept confidential by the oil companies which are still developing their exploration activity in Sicily, so that we are not yet at the stage which allows a complete regional synthesis of proven validity. Thus the following notes and remarks, which mainly refer to only Central and Eastern Sicily, partly remain in the field of the working hypotheses which must be taken with many reservations: they may be proven or disproven by the progress of our knowledge, but, in any case, will be at least partly changed when the final conclusions are reached.
