Deux espèces des bovidés trés hypsodontes se trouvent dans la formation Béglia (Miocène moyen,Astaracien/Vallesien)de la Tunisie ouest-centrale.Un rapport avec les Rupicaprini est envisagée.La tribu Rupicaprini est probablement d'origine méditérranéenne.les espèces tunisiennes montrent une hypsodontie précoce et la perte des colonnes basales.La région méditérannéenne était un centre important d'évolution pour les Rupicaprini pendant le tertiaire supérieur. bibliogr.
