Source rock, oil and gaz geochemistry of lower Cretaceous - Jurassic section in LMG-1 well, Kebili permit. The Kimmeridgian to Callovian section of LMG-1 well has a low grade of thermal maturity corresponding to vitrinite reflectance of 0,6 to 0,72%. A very good source rock with oil-prone kerogen was identified in Neocomian section at depth of 1835 to 1875m. Sources of the drilled Jurassic section are charaterzed by relatively low organic carbon content (0,2- 0,4%) and hydrocrbon potential (0,3-0,6 mg HC/grock) and gasprone Kerogen in general. Based on production indices of rock-Eval analyses, a migration zone can be identified the top of which is situated at the depth of 250 m. Gas shows and oil trace have been observed in the migration zone. Carbon isotope ratio from hydrocarbons of gas and oil to source rock correlation were performed in order to find whether the oil and gas from depth interval of 2530 to 2759 m where sourced from interbedded shales or from another source. Both oil and gas are more mature corresponding to vitrinite reflectance of 1-1,3% than the hydrocarbons of interbedded shales. The oil and gas have been generated by a hypersaline or saline lacustrine source rock containing kerogen type. The interbedded shales cannot have sourced the oil, but they are stained by them.
