Les restes de Girafidés du Bled Douarah,près de Gafsa (formation Béglia)appartiennent à deux genres voisins,Palaeotragus et Samotherium.Dans les couches inférieures de la formation étudiée,on trouve une nouvelle espèce de Palaeotragus,P.robinsoni:dans les niveaux supérieurs avec Hipparion,cette même espèce est accompagnée d'un Samotherium de petite taille qui n'a pu être déterminée spécifiquemnt.
