Geological studies - Biostratigraphy
:: Geological studies >> Biostratigraphy

The biostratigraphy is a science concerned with fossils. The microfossils have been subjects of study especially in our geological service in order to define stratums’ age. In addition to their stratigraphic interest, the microfossils are solid proof, widely used in the paleoecological and paleogeographical reconstructions. Indeed :
  • Several microfossils are very sensitive to the ecological factors

  • The microfossils are generally well conserved, that is why it is easy to spot them out

  • The microfossils are present in the majority of the sediments, even though in a tiny quantity of rocks.
