The Harian/hypostratotype of the Montien s.L./and Mellegien/hypostatotype of the Landien s.l./are proposed as a new stages of the Tethys for the stratotype of the marine Paleocene. The lower and upper boundaries as well the stratigraphy of thes stages are mainly based upon planktonic foraminifers.
